Mechanical Engineering Technician

Minimum Requirement:
National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
2 Years experience in a Mechanical engineering environment would be an advantage
Must be computer literate & have CAD knowledge

Summary of Duties:
Design
New turnouts & track components
Adaptation of existing designs, if required
Interface of manual operation/switching devices
Interface and adaptation of trailable self-normalizing systems
Interface of switch machines
All drawings according to paid down specifications and within defined parameters
Ensure drawings are1005 correct and ready for productionSupport to Sales
Principal (basic) layouts for new projects
Estimates and cost Calculations for new products
Weight and Length calculations for shipping of new/existing products
Site visits for measurements for surface track and mining (underground if required)
Site visits for after sales service (fault finding)
Supervision and physically participating in installation of products on site
Assist with system design description documents
Assist to compile guideline documents
Assist with generating new cutting programs for CNC machines
Handle inquiries relating to design of products
Fault find and evaluation for quality assurance
Generate or update BOM
Search for specifications/drawings for existing items
Reverse engineering of parts for machines
Design drawings for jigs, where necessary
Tooling drawings where required
