JOB TITLE: Business Development Officer (BDO)
JOB PROFILEThe Daily Grind Innovation Hub (TDGIH), based in Kraaifontein, is a bespoke enterprise development hub support network that aims to provide existing and aspiring entrepreneurs with a variety of basic services such as physical space, infrastructure and shared services; and advanced services such as networking opportunities, access to specialised knowledge (technology experts), market analysis, market linkages, training in the use of new technologies, and access to finance.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOBThe BDO will ensure the successful delivery of incubation services at the Incubator, and in particular:
Ensure effective operation and use of incubator facilities and achievement of small enterprise development goals and objectives;Establish and manage relationships with both public and private sector stakeholders, public sector entities, colleges, universities, and research institutions.Work intimately with entrepreneurs and start-ups on the incubation programme, with the goal of ensuring effective incubation of innovative technology-based ideas and growth of sustainable businesses.* Given the current lockdown crisis, must be prepared to work remotely when necessary, offering innovative and digital solutions to supporting and developing small businesses through The Daily Grind Incubation Programme.
* This is a full-time position, and overtime/weekend work might be required from time to time.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESWork with SMMEs/Incubatees to identify and evaluate new markets and new target clients.Develop and implement strategic sales plans with SMMEs/Incubatees.Encourage an environment of innovative thinking and commercialization of innovative ideas.Identify and evaluate specific new profitable business opportunities.Assist in achieving sales targets of the SMMEs/Incubatees.Initiate and complete proposals and presentations for new business opportunities.Work with internal teams to deliver outstanding presentations to capture profitable business opportunities.Maintain excellent stakeholder relationships with existing and potential stakeholders.Plan, implement, and manage the enterprise development portfolio's projects, programs, products, and services aimed at SMMEs/Incubatees.Encourage SMMEs/Incubatees to incorporate innovative methods into their enterprises.Offer coaching and mentoring to SMMEs/Incubatees.REQUIREMENTS3-year Tertiary Qualification in Enterprise Development, Entrepreneurship Management, or Business.Proven track record of developing new businesses.Strong in client connection and client services.Strong responsibility, self-motivated, able to work under high pressure.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.Proven experience in an innovation and technology-driven industry or organization.Experience in assessing the viability and sustainability of small enterprises.In-depth understanding of the SMME and incubation industry.Advanced computer literacy - MS Office and MS Projects.Valid Driver's License.Experience starting, owning, operating, and/or managing a small business.The role also requires the candidate to be a good networker to ensure an evergreen incubation pipeline of ideas, whose incubation will result in sustainable high-growth companies, with job creation opportunities.TO APPLYEnsure you meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above.
