You'll focus on assisting clients incorporate increased automation in the tax reporting process, increase analytic capabilities through data integration, and create solid internal controls that will enable the Tax function to deliver better quality output and contribute more strategically to organisational decision making.

PwC South Africa is expanding of tax technologists within the Tax Transformation and Technology business to reflect the growing demand for tax technology related services across our client portfolio. The role will focus on enabling our clients to transform their business processes through effective use of tax technology, ERP Cloud implementations and tax process automation.
This is an external client facing role advising PwC clients on digital tax transformation strategy and initiatives for South African and multinational companies, covering all elements of the tax function, automating the tax compliance and reporting processes for direct and indirect taxes, and enabling real time reporting of taxes in our clients' ERP solutions. The candidate will focus on creating value not only in tax but in the wider organisation by transforming tax functions through optimising tax strategy, governance, organisational design, people, and process, underpinned and enabled by technology and data.
Key Responsibilities The role reports into an Associate Director and key responsibilities will include:
Evaluate tax function business models, processes and operations to develop tax technology roadmaps to address business challenges and requirements. Advising PwC clients on digital tax transformation strategy and initiatives for South African and multinational companies, covering all elements of the tax function, automating the compliance and reporting processes for direct and indirect taxes, and enabling real time reporting of taxes in the ERP. Analyse and evaluate tax business requirements and translates into tax and functional requirements and specifications, providing insights on ERP system and technical components to incorporate into the technical design. Analyse reports and assessments to provide insights on whether a solution/technology being implemented is meeting overall business but specifically Tax and IT requirements. Interacting and leveraging the firm's Alliance partners to deliver on client opportunities. Stay updated with local and international tax laws and regulations. Ensure ERP Tax Ledger configurations comply with these regulations, for both direct and indirect taxes. Embedding and sustaining tax data quality standards in business systems to enhance tax processes, operations and effectiveness, enhancing tax governance and control through content management solutions, workflow technologies and document management. Stakeholder management and business partnering - build strong relationships with our Advisory business, project stakeholders and senior stakeholders within the business across different functions like finance, accounting, and IT to address any tax-related challenges. Your Professional Experience Tax Transformation and Technology - Senior Manager Design of tax technologies to automate tax reporting and compliance processes, including automated e-filing solutions. Proven experience working with ERP Tax Ledger for the design and implementation of tax compliance and reporting in ERP systems. Proven experience gathering and interpreting tax function requirements. Ability to manage the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical/business-driven approach taken. Build valuable relationships both within PwC and with client stakeholders, proactively contributing to winning new work/clients. Ensure work delivery of the highest quality. Project and programme management skills: project planning, project documentation drafting and maintenance of these; resource and team co-ordination; identification, management and escalation of risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies; budget management; and stakeholder status reporting. Interest in understanding and developing knowledge of ERP software (e.g. SAP, Oracle), Robotic Process Automation solutions, and GenAI. Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams, and fast-paced project environments. Experience of working effectively with risk within a complex change portfolio. Experience of change management technical expertise. Experience and ability of leading teams (small or large). Excellent communication skills. Qualifications
Have a university degree. Previous experience working in a tax technology role (previous role in tax technology will be advantageous). Experience in the development and/or implementation of tax elements in ERP solutions. Travel Requirements
