Who we are: Mama Money is a growth stage fintech startup working to help migrant workers in South Africa send money home. Since 2015 we have been providing reliable remittances, at a socially fair price, to those that need it most.
Mama HQ is in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. We are 131 people strong (and counting) from 19 countries across Africa, Asia, the UK, and Europe. In order for us to continue to grow, we need a Talent Acquisition Specialist who will ensure that we are attracting and hiring the right people for our needs, that we have a seamless and effective recruitment and onboarding process and that all candidates have a positive experience that aligns with Mama Money's values. As our Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will look after various elements related to recruitment, onboarding and employee wellness. As our Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will: From a recruitment perspective you will:Ensure a solid understanding of the business functions and requirements, flagging if further information, activities or support are required to assist with thisManage the entire recruitment process from inception to completion (i.e. taking briefs, advertising the role, sourcing suitable candidates, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, issuing offer letters, and background checks)Source candidates for a variety of roles across Engineering, Data, Finance, Compliance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success and other ad-hoc roles that may ariseScreen potential candidates for skill and culture fitDraw up shortlistsArrange and coordinate interviews with candidates and hiring teamsProvide feedback to candidates throughout the process to ensure they are updated at all times as to the status of the processProvide consistent feedback internally on role status and flag any issues, delays, or concerns as it relates to the internal process or candidate experienceAssist in salary benchmarking exercises when requiredEnsure placement deadlines are met or flag in advance if they will not beBuild an active pipeline of suitable candidates for future opportunities within the businessLook out for opportunities to improve the candidate experience and internal process - use data to support these decisionsWork closely with the marketing team on recruitment marketing initiativesYour onboarding responsibilities would include:Liaising with IT, Office Management and other relevant departments to ensure new joiners are set up ahead of the start dateArrange onboarding sessions with relevant departments and new joinersManage welcome comms with new joiners to ensure we have all the necessary informationBe present and accessible for onboarding week to welcome and manage new joiner's smooth transition into the companyCompile and distribute monthly onboarding surveys and share with relevant colleaguesAnalyse survey results and recommend improvements based on feedback receivedSpearhead ad-hoc onboarding eventsIn addition, you will:Be involved in ad-hoc talent projects that relate to employee wellness and cultureAbout you: You have over 6+ years experience recruiting candidates in a variety of roles at all levels especially within the tech/fintech spaceYou have excellent verbal and written communication skillsYou are passionate about candidate experience and understand the importance of moving quickly while ensuring you maintain a high standard of qualityYou are adaptable, resilient and proactiveYou are well-versed in sourcing methods and understand how to source and engage both active and passive candidatesYou can work autonomously and prioritise your workloadYou are eager to get involved beyond the scope of recruitmentYou live in Cape Town and like being in an office environmentIt would be a bonus if: You have worked within the fintech space or at a scaling startup environment.Why Mama: At Mama Money, the customers & communities we serve are at the heart of all that we do.
