The purpose of the UNIX/Linux Systems Engineering Tech Lead at Shoprite is to provide expert-level system engineering knowledge on designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining processes and documentation to ensure best use of system capability.
This role involves:

Collaborating with various IT teams and business stakeholders.
Guiding and advising on system engineering best practice within area of technology.
Managing system incidents, escalations, and resolutions.
Ensuring vendors efficiently deliver on system installation, upgrades, and incident resolutions as per agreed service levels and quality standards.

The UNIX/Linux Systems Engineering Tech Lead will:

Lead and provide technical guidance to a team of Engineers and Administrators supporting assigned systems, applications, and associated technologies in the enterprise.
Oversee the roll out of new UNIX/Linux systems.
Maintain, upgrade, replace, and improve the long-term performance of the systems.

The role will be responsible for:

The day-to-day operation and planning of the UNIX and Linux based systems consisting of approximately 460 SLES and Redhat Enterprise Linux servers.
Managing servers running Enterprise and Open-Source Software.
Overseeing 97 AIX LPARS that are key to daily business operations.
