Have you had experience working in agriculture and are passionate about sustainability. Then come and join us and help us shape and deliver our agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries strategies here at Asda. The role is pivotal in developing and implementing the business's corporate agricultural sustainable sourcing strategy, forward working with farmers, growers, suppliers, colleagues and NGOs. Your work will focus on meat, produce dairy, eggs, seafood and produce and help to deliver positive impacts in our field to fork supply chains, whilst supporting our colleagues across the food business to embed the sourcing strategy within the food commercial categories across our business.
The successful candidate will be able to effectively influence and shape outcomes using their expertise and creativity to drive our farming commitments across the Asda farmer and grower supply base, working hand in hand and leading our Asda dairy, beef and lamb farmer groups.
You will be accountable for developing new sustainable farming and growing policies and strategies across existing and emerging agriculture, as well as understanding the resource issues and challenges that the industry are facing and finding innovative solutions to them.
You will work alongside commercial, customer and technical and product development colleagues on NPD opportunities, market information and supply chain changes and challenges. As well as continuing to work on or relationships with our supplying partners, ensuring they clear on our priorities and measurables to enable to the delivery of our business objectives and providing our customers with range and choice.
You will take responsibility for the measuring, verifying and reporting for elements of the ASDA ESG programme. You will represent the Asda agriculture team at industry forums, enabling us to keep up to date with the latest developments, innovation and industry thinking, as well as regulatory landscape and communicate this across out business, as well as looking at how and what we should integrate into our ways of working to allow for continuous improvement.
You will act as the key point of contact in the business for farming and growing related queries – both internal and external and be the voice of Asda agricultural communication . You will do this by developing a strong network, inspire others to embrace the journey and demonstrate a compelling business case for action. You'll be very results focused, commercially astute , pragmatic, flexible and resilient as well as energised by change.

You will need a degree or equivalent in a relevant area and have had previous experience in similar agricultural roles ( 2- 5 years post graduate experience) in complex agriculture related areas especially with a sustainability focus. You will have a real passion for the subject matter, driving change and working within a fast paced environment.
You will have excellent organisational & project management skills including the ability to identify, implement & lead change in the business through challenging, leading and influencing colleagues cross functionally.
You will have a good understanding of sourcing, sustainability and technical and experience including reporting platforms. You'll have evidence of using data effectively to identify key focus areas and to mitigate risk effectively for the business, as well as to identify areas of improvement.
You will have an appetite for driving high standards and bringing people together to challenge the status quo. With strong communication skills enabling you to distil complex subjects to stakeholders and give clarity to drive action.
You will have a commercial and customer understanding, being able to balance the needs of all, whilst being able to flex and prioritise in an ever changing environment.
