Main purpose of the job: In consultation with the District Manager, to coordinate and support the implementation of the School-based HIV and Violence prevention program, in order to ensure the delivery of quality, services offered as part of a comprehensive package of care through mobile service delivery, and achievement of targetsEnsure the establishment of an enabling environment and availability of resources for the sub-district implementation team to deliver their workLocation: Nkomazi, Ehlanzeni District, MpumalangaKey performance areas: Coordinate and support programme implementation at sub-district level Communicate, and promote implementation of the School-based HIV & GBV program at the sub-district level including facilities, schools and other community-based settingsJointly develop, implement, and regularly review the district-based workplan for PrEP and SRH with the District Manager and Clinical MentorIn collaboration with the sub-district team, develop and implement project management tools to enable effective programme delivery such as weekly driving roster, 4-month mobile schedule updated, and daily/weekly data dashboards assessing performanceWorking closely with the M&E Technical team, leading data-driven planning sessionsFacilitate regular meetings with sub-district team to ensure outputs are delivered and to review progress on implementation planIn collaboration with the District Manager and Clinical Mentor identify the needs of the program at a sub-district level and obtain or advocate for resources requiredCoordinate and troubleshoot all programme-related activities in the sub-districtCoordinate the development and implementation of Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs) to address relevant programme implementation gaps that require immediate turn-around strategies such as improving uptake of services, PrEP Continuation, etc.
in collaboration with the District Manager and Clinical MentorIdentifying areas of best practices and documenting success storiesCoordination across Programme streams (internal) Support the sub-district team, ensuring that communication between teams is optimal and that program activities are coordinated and leveragedEnsure coordination across programme streams including ISHP, PrEP and SRH; Demand Creation, Community Services & Linkages, Clinical, M&E and Capacity BuildingSupport activities that increase access for adolescent and youth friendly service (AYFS) including the utilisation of youth zones and Safe spaces at community levelDevelop and effectively manage relationships with relevant Wits RHI structures and other programmesContribute to the achievement of Wits RHI's corporate goals and objectivesStakeholder Management (external) Serve as a representative or point of contact for the Schools project in the sub-districtDevelop and effectively manage relationships with external stakeholders including DOE, DOH, DSD, donors, Civil Society structures and other partners in the sub-districtAttend and participate in regular strategic and coordination meetings such as DREAMS partner meetings, DOH partner meetings, and relevant Technical Working groups in the sub-districtCoordinate the timely submission of relevant reports required or that contributes to district outputsCoordinate programme activities with external agencies such as public health, NGO partners, regulatory bodies, donor monitoring and auditing agencies and others as necessaryStaff Management Under supervision of the District Manager, manage all sub-district staff including providing supervision, support and time attendanceSupervise and manage the daily duties of supervisees and team to ensure optimal staff performance and maintenance of sound labour relationsCoach and mentor sub-district team members to comply with the organisation policiesCoordinate regular meetings with sub-district team and undertake regular implementation site visits in collaboration with the Clinical Mentor, to ensure outputs are deliveredEnsure each cadre of staff performing as per daily minimum targetsConduct staff performance assessments together with District Manager or Clinical Mentor, on sub-district staff including probation and annual appraisalsIdentify sub-standard performance and take necessary corrective action in consultation with the Clinical Mentor and District ManagerAttend to all staffing requirements and administration at sub-district levelPromote harmony, teamwork and sharing of informationCoordinate the recruitment process for replacements or new staff appointments in collaboration with the District Manager or Clinical MentorCoordinate the process for onboarding and orientation of new starters in the sub-district in collaboration with the District Manager or Clinical MentorTraining and Skills Transfer Conduct skills audit to identify training needs of sub-district implementing staffLiaise with the District Manager and other Technical Leads to develop training plans based on skills audit resultsWhere applicable or required, provide formal training including off-site and, on the job to facilitate skills transfer to internal staffIdentify and support training needs as relevant for DOH or DOE officials, in collaboration with District Manager and Capacity Building LeadAs per programme requirements coordinate and facilitate School sensitisations and engagements, in line with implementation of the SOP for SRH and Social servicesConduct post training evaluations to get feedback on effectiveness of trainingsEnsure training-related registers, assessments and evaluations completed in the sub-district are filed and hard copies provided to the District ManagerEffective self-management and performance ownership Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-managementFollow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintainedMaintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedbackTake ownership for driving own career development by participating in ongoing training and development activities such as conferences, workshop, etc.Required minimum education and training: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Development Studies, Social Science, Public Health, Education, Management or related fieldsUnderstanding and knowledge of HIV, SRH, PrEP and GBVExcellent written and oral communication skills in English, including report writingRequired minimum work experience: At least 2 -
