Dis-Chem Baby City Somerset West has an opportunity available for Store Assistant Manager. To assist the store manager with complete operation of the store, manage employees, and be responsible for store targets. Maintain excellent customer service levels within the branch. Manage the movement of stock from receiving to the sales floor. Ensure a high standard of merchandising in accordance with standard operating procedures.Minimum RequirementsEssential:Grade 12 – Matric or Senior Certificate2 – 5 years retail experience1 – 2 years supervisory/management experienceAdvantageous:Qualification in Retail ManagementJob Description:Financial ManagementAssist with the maintenance within the storeResponsible for all banking functions related to the store including making bank deposits, filling change requirements, etc.Participate in daily operational and sales activities to achieve customer service and business growth objectivesOversee pricing and stock controlEnsure the ordering and monitoring of expense related items within the storeCustomer ServicesCommit to ensuring that the store provides an above expectation customer service experience, in adherence to company policies and proceduresResolve customer problems in a timely mannerAddress customer and employee satisfaction issues promptly and in personDevelop professional relationships with all customer contactsEnsure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent serviceEnsure that staff follows company policies and procedures as detailed in the standard operating proceduresEnsure the customer request system is operational and actioned on a daily basisEnsure the accurate manual processing of points to customer accountsReport and encourage new loyalty signups continuouslyMerchandisingTake personal responsibility to ensure that all sales assistants adhere to Merchandising standards setEnsure that promotional stock and displays are planned, implemented and maintained at least 24 hours before promotions breakAdhere to all labeling, pricing and layout standardsApprove promotional materials and displaysMaintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standardsPlan and implement shop merchandising, layout and customer traffic flow to maximize sales, customer satisfaction, appearance and brand imageSales TargetsEnsure promotions are effectively executedMaintain awareness of market trends in the retail industryDesign effective strategies to maintain inventory levels and manage all work according to store policies and proceduresDevelop business strategies to raise our customer pool, expand store traffic and optimize profitabilityStock and Inventory ManagementTotal management of store inventory, including planning, implementation, investigation and reporting on all store inventory countsManage and ensure the ordering of stock and maintain correct stock levelsPrepare, coordinate and manage the stock takesManage the store shrinkage, stock flow to the floor and consumables expenseInvestigate negative GP values in the store and take appropriate actions to identify and rectify controllable errorsEnsure physical stock in all storage locations balances with the inventory ledger in SAPDaily management of out-of-stock, to ensure maximum stock on the shelvesCash Office and Point of Sale OperationsTake complete control and manage the store cash resources, daily takings and banking in compliance with company operating proceduresEnsure balancing of floats and manage all store float discrepanciesReconcile daily takings to turnoverEnsure transaction integrity throughout the branchControl overtime and manage price overridesReconcile the physical daily takings to the Unisolv run reportInclude all relevant supporting documentation in cash up reportsHuman ResourcesManage and facilitate human resource processes for the business unit in compliance with standard operating proceduresManage store personnel including guiding and supporting them with training, mentoring and developmentMonitor, evaluate and coach performanceManage the day-to-day Human Resource administration including leave and schedulingManage the disciplinary processes and procedures in storeOperational ManagementMaintain a safe environment with proper lighting, signage and disability accessOversee security, fire prevention and other safety systemsManage and maintain relationships with contractorsEnsure day-to-day management of all aspects of the storeAdministration and ReportingFacilitate and assist in any internal or external audits conducted in storeMaintain and oversee accuracy of records associated with cash, receipts, inventories and employee attendanceReport on buying trends, customer needs, profits etc.Adhere to all company and business unit deadlinesCompetencies:Essential:Retail store management disciplinesCreative and innovative thinkingProblem-solving and decision-making skillsEmotional IntelligenceAbility to communicate effectively with all types of peopleSpecial conditions of employment:South AfricanMIE, clear criminal and creditDriver's license and own reliable transportRemuneration and benefits:Market Related SalaryMedical AidProvident FundONLY SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED.
