The Koffler Scientific Reserve (KSR) at Jokers Hill on the Oak Ridges Moraine in King Township is a nationally recognized site dedicated to cutting-edge research and education in biodiversity, ecology, and conservation biology. As a living laboratory, it offers unique opportunities to study and protect native flora and fauna, foster a deeper connection to nature, and contribute valuable insights to global conservation efforts.
Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Director, this position provides guidance for the administrative support and operational management of the Koffler Scientific Reserve (KSR). The incumbent will liaise with management to determine goals and priorities for facilitating research, teaching, and outreach at KSR. In addition, the incumbent's responsibilities will include managing events, initiatives, and data administration. The incumbent will oversee the work of volunteers and casual employees.
Your responsibilities will include: Developing and maintaining procedures for the use of space and equipmentProviding orientation to new employees and/or studentsDetermining logistical details and activities for events and/or programmingIdentifying and reporting facility repair and/or maintenance needsIdentifying and recommending space, furniture and equipment needs for the officeCoordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholdersSetting-up lab/workshop according to research and/or course schedulesDirecting the work of volunteers in defined activitiesEssential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a related field, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum five years of related and recent experience in supporting space, facilities, operation and administration in a biology field station operation.Demonstrated leadership in the field of student learning and development.Experience monitoring accounts and collaborating on cost estimates.Experience with knowledge management experience, including training materials, onboarding and support documentation.Demonstrated experience in successfully working in a team environment, build relationship and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including faculty members.Experience identifying operational needs, implementing and changing business processes.Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills; collaboration skills and client management skills.Experience troubleshooting issues with lab equipment and/or workstations.Experience in determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programs.Have a valid 'G' class drivers license and Operation of Small Drinking Water Systems certification.Demonstrated management or leadership experience.Demonstrated problem-solving skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to interpret and apply a broad range of institutional policies and procedures.To be successful in this role you will be: ApproachableDiplomaticOrganizedResourcefulClosing Date: 08/16/2024, 11:59PM ET
