At ArcelorMittal, our goal is to help build a better world with smarter steels.Key ResponsibilitiesAdherence to safety procedures and participation in safety initiatives.Design, develop, test, deploy, monitor, improve and maintain high quality, fit-for-purpose, reusable, and maintainable system solutions according to set standards and processes within the allocated time and with a minimum of rework.Hardware and system incident resolution according to set service level agreements.Routine MS Windows updates and servers and workstations.Routine anti-virus updates.End-user support on ICT hardware including workstations, printers, and scanners.Troubleshooting, monitoring and status reporting.Interacts with the business, suppliers and contractors as technical advisor to discuss software solutions.Applies corporate and departmental standards, policies (testing, validation, change control, disaster recovery and incident/problem management) and rules.Callout service including scheduled standby and after-hours support/escalation as and when required.Documentation such as Design Documentation, Training Manuals, Functional specifications, and technical specifications.Attend production operational meetings/Change Advisory Board meetings and other meetings as and when required.Acquire knowledge of plant and/or business processes in allocated area of responsibility.Risk management to reduce the Risk Exposure for the company.Self-education in terms of relevant current best practices, technologies, trends and events.Reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for ArcelorMittal South Africa.Drive Digital Transformation through the deployment of relevant technologies, challenging the status quo.QualificationsNational Diploma (NQF 6/10) in Computer Science / Information Technology / Information Systems.Experience and RequirementsSkilled and experienced in most of the following software environments: Web development (API, Web Forms, Blazor, Bootstrap).Relevant experience in developing in Visual Studio (C#, VB, ASP).Development and design within a Microsoft SQL database environment (T/SQL).Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.Understands the essentials of system integration and inter-system communication (API, Middleware, OPC, etc.).AspenTech InfoPlus.21 (IP21).GIT Repository management.Windows operating systems administration, server, and workstation (including patching).Hardware end-user support including workstations, label printers and scanners.Network and system landscape understanding, and deployment.Understands Active Directory Domain Services and single sign-on and rights management.IT General controls.Skilled and experienced in the following processes: Incident Management.Change Management.Troubleshooting and Problem Solving.Good understanding of System Development Life Cycle and solution analysis.System availability, reliability, and security.Good understanding of the production, business and supporting processes in a steel manufacturing environment.Understanding of the Hot mill and Cold Mill operations will be an advantage.Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) related to systems and processes.Understanding and experience of levels of automation in manufacturing.Exposure to Agile System Development and Project Management processes.Working knowledge of MS Office range of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).OS Virtualization within the VMWare technology, including system restore (VM and Host).Personal AttributesStrong knowledge of the software development lifecycle.Strong people skills – effective facilitation, negotiation, and collaboration skills up, down and across the organisation.Communicate effectively and with confidence at various levels of the organization, tailored appropriately to the audience.Analytical thinker and strong problem-solving skills.Passion for the steel manufacturing environment and desire to learn the processes to understand where the Production Automation Systems function.Passion for technology and innovation.Be pro-active, take initiative and are performance/results driven while requiring minimal guidance.Taking ownership of assigned areas of responsibility.Demonstrate persistence and overcome obstacles.Ability to function effectively, both as an individual and within a team structure.Ability to assimilate new knowledge and acquire and develop new skills.Maintain effectiveness under pressure in a continually evolving environment.Ability to read, interpret and create technical process flow and IT documents such as flow charts, database design documents and functional/technical specifications.Exhibits confidence in self and others.Stakeholder involvement and networking skills.Strong service orientated mindset.Ability and desire to transfer knowledge.
