Specialist Instrumentation - Mining Maintenance – Instrumentation & Underground Electrical

The role is responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership to a Specialist maintenance team at the Instrumentation section.
Key responsibilities will include:

Providing technological support of all Instrumentation, control and network systems.
Implementation and continuous improvement of Reliability Centred Maintenance.
Implement pro-active measures to ensure highest system availability, functionality and agility.
Achieving Best Practice work culture in maintenance standards and procedures.
Investigating equipment failures and carrying out root cause analyses to improve reliability.
Preparing operational and capital budgets and managing the finances within company required limits.
Overseeing Instrumentation, Network and Dispatch Specialists.
Liaising with external vendors ensuring requirements are met in maintaining the current infrastructure and during improvement projects that may arise.
Effectively communicate challenges and solutions to the management team for consideration and action where required.
Maintaining current knowledge of Instrumentation standards and best practices and implement improvements where feasible.
Providing clear direction in the AS and instrumentation environment including but not limited to technology to be utilised, systems to be implemented and adjustments to be performed.
Knowledge transfer within team to assist in the development of a versatile team.
Ensuring adherence to the Palabora SHEQ standards and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

National Diploma or BSc.Degree in Instrumentation.
Five years working experience in maintenance environment as an Instrumentation Specialist.
Five years' experience in PCS7 software design and coding (CFC's, Statement List, SFC's, etc.).
Good understanding or knowledge of Profibus DP/PA, ASI and Industrial Ethernet bus systems.
Knowledge of PDM, Data Bridge and Data Monitor will be an advantage.
Basic network knowledge.
Programming, Dispatch and underground communications system's experience
Advanced computer literacy.
Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
