Job DescriptionWSP is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join the Water Infrastructure and Design Division within the Mine Engineering Business Unit. This person will be responsible for the design, drawing and construction monitoring of infrastructure projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, drawing and construction monitoring of infrastructure projects including:Open Channel Flow hydraulicsStorm Water DesignsUndertake planning, engineering design work and supervision of construction as required and as directed by Project Leaders or EngineersEnsure all designs and drawings are properly documented and checkedAttend site and other meetings, to action times timeously and effectivelyAchieve minimum financial productivity on all projectsEnsure effective systems are implemented for good record keeping – files, reports, drawings, construction date etc.Liaise with other staff working on projects at all levelsAssist with contract administration including preparation of certificates and "as built" drawings, construction dates etc.Ensure suitability of technical proposalsCompile letters, reports and prepare tender documentationProvide service excellenceCompliance with Quality Management SystemContribution to efficiency and effectiveness of sectorThe candidate must be able to undertake and review associated works designs and demonstrate a sound technical knowledge of contract and construction procedures. (The candidate must demonstrate highly specialised design)The position is head office based, however the successful candidate must be prepared and free to travel extensively both within South Africa and within the African Continent to manage projects and engage in client and other meetings.Health and Safety:
