Job DescriptionReporting to the Vice President Global Patient Solutions, the General Manager South Africa will be accountable for the Gilead business in the country.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and effective cross-functional leadership to ensure a strong team working culture, driving business achievements across all key geographies.Business Development: Manage business relationships, contract negotiations, supply & tender management, and forecasts to ensure profitable growth of the South Africa business.Representative Role: Represent the company in South Africa, covering legal and fiscal responsibilities, and interacting with government bodies, pharmaceutical companies, patient groups, and key opinion leaders.Team Management: Shape the organization, coach, lead, and develop the team, fostering teamwork and leadership culture to attract, develop, and retain high-caliber talent.Access and Policy Shaping: Drive access negotiations and policy shaping in all therapy areas with relevant stakeholders, including payers, regulators, the scientific community, and patient associations.Revenue and Growth: Work closely with regional marketing groups to ensure revenue and growth targets are met on a product-by-product basis.RequirementsThe ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with significant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, specifically in sales, marketing, access, external affairs, and people management.
Hands-on experience in an operational management position, either as a Division/BU Head or General Manager in a relevant market.Successful Rx product launch track record in South Africa.Above country and/or global experience in a pharmaceutical company.Advanced experience with product launches and lifecycle management, especially in the context of specialty products.Pragmatic individual with entrepreneurial and results-driven mindset, able to lead cross-functionally in a matrix organization.
