We are seeking a talented Sous Chef to join our prestigious 5-star game lodge team. The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in managing culinary operations, ensuring exceptional dining experiences for our guests in a unique and luxurious safari setting.
Responsibilities:
Assist in Menu Planning:
Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan innovative and seasonal menus that showcase local ingredients and cater to guest preferences.
Food Preparation:
Oversee and participate in the preparation of high-quality dishes according to standard recipes and specifications, maintaining consistency and presentation.
Kitchen Management:
Supervise kitchen staff, including cooks, prep cooks, and kitchen helpers, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to hygiene and safety standards.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels of kitchen supplies and ingredients, placing orders as needed to maintain stock levels and minimize waste.
Training and Development:
Train new kitchen staff and develop existing team members, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
Quality Control:
Conduct regular inspections of food items and kitchen equipment to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain cleanliness.
Guest Satisfaction:
Work closely with front-of-house staff to meet guest expectations and resolve any food-related issues promptly and courteously.
Adherence to Budget:
Assist in cost control measures, including portion control and waste management, to meet financial targets without compromising on quality.
Special Events:
Participate in special events and functions, such as themed dinners and private events, ensuring seamless execution and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-end restaurant or hospitality environment.
Culinary diploma or degree preferred.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
