We are looking for candidates who have proven experience of the sourcing and procurement of pharmaceutical products to join our global Sourcing and Procurement team in the role of Sourcing Specialist.
The right candidate for this role will be someone who has existing knowledge and experience of sourcing and procurement within the pharmaceutical industry and is looking to take the next step in their career.
We are looking for candidates who have a desire to learn the business and look to improve ways of working through understanding of the core mechanics of the sourcing environment.
The ideal candidate will have worked in a global role, be used to working with complex enquiries and hold a relevant professional qualification, although this is not essential.
Key Responsibilities: Sourcing Capability Working with International suppliers to source comparator and hard to find medicines at competitive rates Handling inbound Clinical Trial Supplies (CTS) and unlicensed sourcing enquiries Evaluate supplier base to ascertain which suppliers can provide best sourcing routes Pursue multiple options to achieve cost reductions e.g.
negotiate rebates, exploit price breaks, mitigate cost price increases, improve payment terms, etc Tendering of large value product requirements where appropriate Establish and develop supplier and Manufacturer relationships Leverages a detailed understanding of marketplace, competitors and business requirements.
Work strategically to ensure supplier base remains effective Constructs detailed cost models/purchase price analysis of goods and services to drive the control, containment and reduction of costs for Clinigen and to provide deep and meaningful insights to Account Management team Understanding of CTS and unlicensed product acquisition needs across the Clinigen group and taking advantage of synergies Performs detailed analysis of supplier proposals and payment schedules and conducts rigorous price negotiations with suppliers Proactively manage and review existing and new suppliers Maintain and expand global supplier base to ensure development and contribute to the global sourcing strategy Strategy Development/Implementation: Utilizes Sourcing Management Process and other tools and techniques to create and execute RFIs, RFQs together with subsequent structured information analysis wherever possible using modern electronic procurement processes Find opportunities to increase spend and portfolio of products that are sourced direct from manufacturer and ensure Clinigen Group has a commercial edge over competitors Review of product needs, targeting key manufacturers for direct purchasing and exclusivity Work with business development and account managers to pursue partnerships for key products Ongoing review of new and emerging suppliers, competitors and market dynamics at global level Ensuring supply chain availability, quality and minimising risk Develop supply chain to maintain availability and minimise supply problem issues, with the view to keep as minimal links as possible and to ensure full product traceability Proactively engage with internal stakeholders to advise the most robust comparator sourcing routes and to source alternatives for new shortages Risk mitigation to prevent unethical or counterfeit drugs entering into the supply chain Adherence to regulatory legislation and quality assurance processes To follow, promote and enforce relevant SOPs, Job Aids, and Company policies and procedures Review end to end processes to improve management of supplier base, channel management and contract management Personal Effectiveness Achievement of agreed individual, divisional and project KPIs Working collaboratively and cross functionally within Clinigen and partners to ensure all teams contribute to the excellence of service delivery Acting as an escalation point for issues with suppliers and supporting the business in the resolution of issues Personal Development Ensure knowledge of trends and developments in the Clinical Trial Comparator and unlicensed spaces are kept up to date and relevant and translated for the benefit of the team Develop and maintain effective business relationships with key Clinigen Group staff Build and develop knowledge of pharmaceutical landscape and products Requirements Experience within clinical trials/comparator sourcing is desirable.
Proven experience of sourcing and/or procurement of pharmaceutical products or related industry Proven experience in working within a purchasing environment and negotiation of supplier contracts including successful supplier performance management Relevant Degree or Professional Qualification Preferred i.e.
BA, MSc, APICS, CIPS etc.
International experience desired Background in dealing with enquiries essential, preferably within a complex service environment Ambitious desire to learn the business and improve ways of working through understanding core mechanics of the sourcing environment Demonstrable experience of working autonomously and making decisions Experience of partnering with diverse teams across multiple sites Highly computer literate; experience operating with all Microsoft Office software and ERP systems (preferably Oracle) Ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate a busy workload with good time management skills Experience and/or knowledge of working in a highly regulated environment required Excellent relationship management, networking and interpersonal skills (with both internal and external stakeholders).
