Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible to deliver daily general tasks to the maintenance unit, conduct inspections of premises and equipment in order to execute tasks and activities as per agreed standard operating procedures.
Position Overview
Specific Role Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
Performing preventative maintenance
Handling basic repairs and maintenance
Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary
Provide daily feedback on task delivery to inform decision making processes
Provide support to the Line Manager to ensure facilities are maintained
To ensure safe working environment according to building regulatory compliance standards
Resolve routine problems and report unresolved issues to ensure problems are addressed timeously
Experience with plumbing (including washers, taps, unblocking toilets, urinals and toilets, pipework (copper or PVC)) and electrical systems required
Tasks include plumbing work, painting, flooring repair and upkeep, minor electrical repairs as well as heating and air conditioning systems maintenance knowledge
To assist with minor plumbing including unblocking sinks and drains; repairs to toilets (ablutions) etc
To undertake minor items of repair and maintenance for the benefit and safety of client / staff and contractors
The minor repair of fixtures and fittings including desks, tables, and chairs as required
Responsible for all planned preventative maintenance on site, including but not limited to proactive and reactive work (may involve weekend or after hours work, when required)
To deal with repairs where necessary as instructed by the Facility Manager
To deal with minor electrical repairs and fixings
Basic knowledge of security and access control systems
General carpentry such as hanging doors, new locks, window frames, assembling furniture, replacing handles and similar hardware
General tiling – floors
General painting
Weekend and after-hours work may be required from time to time
Management of gardening staff
Liaison with security guards
Qualifications and Experience
Grade 12/Matric
Electrical certificate
3 – 5 years' experience in a similar environment / role
Must have own transportation & valid driver's license
Proven maintenance experience
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
Competent at basic building repairs and maintenance
Knowledge of industrial/electrical/mechanical equipment (e.g., generators, hydro boiler, dishwasher, garden equipment etc.)
Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions, including OHS Act regulation and guidelines in the workplace
MS Office Package (Emails, Word, Excel)
