Site Manager (Fixed-term Contract) - Midrand, Gauteng (DR Congo project) Our client located in Midrand, Gauteng is seeking a motivated and experienced Site Manager to join our team for a 6- month to 1 year contract in the DRC , with a focus on solar farm construction.
Our client specializes in construction, consulting services, and is expanding into the Independent Power Producer (IPP) market.
As a Site Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the successful delivery of construction projects, ensuring high standards in safety, environmental compliance, and quality.
Responsibilities: Assisting project managers with work planning and organization.
Managing the delivery of construction materials.
Organizing staff work schedules and overseeing site operations.
Ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
Maintaining records and preparing site reports.
Attending site management meetings.
Evaluating performance and providing constructive feedback.
Resolving employee issues and disputes.
Analyzing engineering drawings and technical documentation to guide construction processes.
Implementing projects according to safety (ISO14001), environmental (ISO18001), quality (ISO9001), and electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, BS, SANS).
Managing onsite project resources, including contractors, tools, equipment, and budget.
Overseeing the project schedule to meet agreed-upon deadlines.
Reporting project updates, milestones, and potential risks to the project manager and stakeholders, including submitting weekly and monthly reports.
Requirements 10+ years of proven experience as a Site Manager or Site Supervisor in the HV Electrical Construction industry, with preference for candidates with solar PV construction experience.
Strong track record in managing and supervising construction and installation projects.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive problem-solving approach.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Strong time management and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
Proficiency in computer skills.
Willingness to work in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Valid driver's license.
