Shipping Manager

Qualifications: Matric Tertiary Qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business or a Related Field Requirements: Management Skills and Experience 5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain management Specific experience in managing import transactions and international shipping Excellent Microsoft Office skill level required Proficiency in logistics software and shipment tracking systems Fluent in English, (Afrikaans will be beneficial) Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Excellent communication and negotiation abilities Strong mathematical and analytical skills required Duties: Negotiate with Carriers: Negotiate rates and contracts with shipping carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics providers Monitor Shipments: Track and monitor the status of inbound shipments, both Sea Freight and Air Freight Update Shipment Status: Update the working documents such as Purchase Orders and Shipping Records on the ERP system Resolve Issues: Address and resolve any problems related to shipment delays, damages, or compliance violations Implement Policies: Develop and enforce shipping policies and procedures to streamline import operations Effectively Manage the Shipping Team: Assess performance, timeliness and development of internal shipping team Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with international shipping, such as geopolitical issues, currency fluctuations, and supply chain disruption Liaise with international suppliers and vendors to facilitate the timely shipment of goods Ensure all import activities comply with customs regulations Oversee the preparation and accuracy of all necessary import documentation
