Do you have a thirst for Supply Chain? Cape Union Mart International is looking for a qualified, driven Shipping Controller in its Supply Chain Division. Cape Union Mart is an Outdoor Retailer and has a presence in fashion in the form of our Old Khaki and Poetry Chains. We have two factories in Cape Town and import finished goods and raw materials for all our businesses.
The successful candidate can self-manage, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, has a medium to high knowledge of excel and an ability to be flexible to cope with the ever-changing needs of the supply chain environment. They are a team player and have a strong customer centric approach to dealing with all stakeholders involved. They will be working with the buying, planning, finance and IT Departments; the Distribution Centres and the factories; International suppliers and SARS. As a Shipping Controller, they would play an integral role in the protection of Margin and the On Time In Full commitment to business.
Key Roles and ResponsibilitiesOrder ManagementManage bookings using various carrier options for best margin maintenanceEnsure on time shipmentsObtain Quotes for airfreight shipmentsProcess Clearings for SARS dutiesDue Diligence on documents providedIssue instructions to Freight Forwarders for Customs ClearanceAd hoc analyses & reportingWill be required to do ad hoc excel analyses using data from Oracle/Tradecloud/Qliksense within agreed deadlinesData insights to be reviewed for clear business decisions to be madeWeekly/Monthly reports to be processed and issued to businessInvoices & paymentsProcessing of invoices in Tradecloud and liaising with factories and Finance regarding discrepanciesGovernanceSupply all necessary documentation to SARS and Auditors as and when requestedApply timeously for all legislative permits requiredSubmit new or amended applications of import and export licenses to SARSSystem enhancementsWork with Tradecloud, Finance and Oracle teams for new system requirements and User Acceptance TestingDraw up basic requirements documents for system enhancementsLog calls for system errors and troubleshoot resolutions with relevant application teamsSOP'sManage all requirements and process changes necessary should any of the above change for good business reasons or continuous improvementWorkshop and publish changes with fellow Shipping ControllersProject ManagementSelf Manage all mini-project deliverables and deadlinesUse of basic gant charts and project updates to Line LeaderCandidates may require working off site at factories or Distribution Centres and would need to navigate their way there using public transport or company pool carQualifications and Experience RequiredAn NQF 6-7 qualification in Supply Chain/B Com Supply Chain Management2+ years of experience working in a supply chain environment is advantageousProven knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office is crucial (Outlook, Word and Excel), Excel using vlookups and pivots is essentialKnowledge of imports, clearing and forwarding is advantageousCompetencies and TraitsExcellent organizational, time management and prioritization skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyAnalytical thinking and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independentlyGood team player, able to work as part of a team, sharing knowledge, ideas and learning from the team.Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlinesAbility to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneouslyInterpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with people across all levelsProcess integrity in handling confidential and sensitive organizational informationRemain up to date in business process changes in this field internationally and locallyAn aptitude for keeping technologically up to date Please note: The Cape Union Mart Group is committed to transformation.
