Stock Controller (Food Wholesaler)

A highly successful company in the Food industry is seeking a highly organized and experienced Stock Controller to manage inventory and ensure accurate stock levels at their Cape Town branch in Montague Gardens. The ideal person will have at least 5 years of experience in stock management and hold a matric qualification. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, overseeing stock movements, and ensuring that the warehouse operates efficiently.Key Responsibilities:Inventory Management:Monitor stock levels to ensure accuracy and prevent stock shortages or overstocking.Conduct regular stock takes and reconcile physical stock against inventory records.Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records in the inventory management system.Investigate and resolve discrepancies in stock levels, taking corrective actions where necessary.Stock Movement:Oversee incoming and outgoing stock, ensuring that all stock movements are documented correctly.Coordinate and manage the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods in the warehouse.Ensure proper labelling, stacking, and storage of inventory to maintain organization and efficiency.Reporting:Generate and analyse stock reports, providing insights and recommendations for inventory management.Report on slow-moving or obsolete stock and suggest actions to address these issues.Communication and Coordination:Liaise with suppliers, procurement teams, and warehouse staff to ensure timely delivery and optimal stock levels.Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and address any inventory-related issues.Quality Control:Inspect incoming goods for quality and accuracy, ensuring they meet company standards.Identify and report damaged or faulty stock, coordinating with suppliers for replacements or returns.Compliance and Safety:Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the warehouse.Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment, adhering to company standards and best practices.Requirements:Matric qualification (Grade 12).Minimum of 5 years of experience in stock control or inventory management.Strong organizational and time management skills.Proficiency in inventory management systems and MS Office (Excel).Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Good communication and problem-solving skills.Preferred Skills:Experience working in the food or FMCG industry.Familiarity with warehouse management systems.
