Description: Course Number and Title: ENT200H1F Introduction to Entrepreneurship
Course Description: This course provides a broad introduction to entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial skills, and the methodology used by entrepreneurs to start a new venture. How do innovations become useful in society? What is needed for a company to use such innovations successfully? Why and how do individuals and companies commercialize new ideas or technologies?
Estimated TA Support: 300 hours
Class Schedule: In-person, Thursdays, 7 PM – 9 PM, plus weekly office hours.
Please note, the delivery method for this course is in person. In keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or the Centre.
Sessional Dates of Appointment: January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025
Minimum Qualifications: PhD required (or equivalent level of business knowledge and qualifications). A background in teaching the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation to diverse student cohorts representing a wide range of degree programs across the Faculty of Arts and Science required. Demonstrated success in supporting student learning and development in academic courses required. Demonstrated superior communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills required. Demonstrated experience in supervising teaching assistants is required.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD aligned with the course topic is preferred. Applicants may be asked to supply a proposed course outline and/or references. Demonstrated evidence of writing and publishing research papers for publication/presentation at conferences preferred. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching preferred. Experience with course management tools University of Toronto or similar online systems (e.g., Quercus, Canvas, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.) not required but is an asset.
Description of Duties: This course is currently planned for in-person delivery in the Winter 2025 term. All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including: administering course in accordance with university regulations as described in the Faculty of Arts & Science Academic Handbook for Instructors; delivering lectures; developing syllabus and marking scheme; setting and invigilating term tests and final assessment; marking and reporting final grades; availability in office hours for academic counselling of students; supervising TAs.
