Description: The University Health Network, Toronto Western Hospital and the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto (DOVS) is inviting applications for the position of Comprehensive Ophthalmologist at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The appointment is a full-time clinical position with an expectation of at least 20% non-clinical work (research, teaching, and academic administration). The effective date of this appointment is January 1, 2025.
The candidate will participate in the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows and will contribute to the academic enterprise of the department. The successful candidate will provide clinical and surgical care in comprehensive ophthalmology and will also participate in on-call duties. The successful candidate will assume care of patients in an existing comprehensive clinical and surgical practice.
Applicants must hold an MD degree or equivalent and have experience in both performing surgeries and in postoperative management of surgeries. The candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer or higher. The candidate must currently hold or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. This position is resourced with clinic space and surgical privileges.
