Senior Research Technician : Diagnostic Services

Job ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate all activities in the ELISA laboratory and scullery.Perform stock taking, make orders for reagents and consumables, and assist with compilation of CAPEX requirements.Prepare reagents and plates for in-house tests.Provide diagnostic services by testing diagnostic samples.Provide research support by testing research samples.Transfer technology with special reference to training in diagnostic assay performance and other related skills.Perform quality assurance duties and deputize the quality assurance officer.Perform biosafety and biosecurity duties.Comply with occupational health and safety regulations.Perform other work-related duties.Minimum RequirementsMTech. Degree (or equivalent NQF7) with 2 years' applicable experience; or B degree or B Hons degree, B.Tech., or National Higher Diploma (or equivalent NQF6) with 6 years applicable experience; or National Diploma (3 years) (or equivalent NQF5) with 8 years applicable experience.A master's degree in microbiology/biotechnology/related fields will be an advantage.Registration with SAVC is a must.Professional membership: SAVC registration.Knowledge of veterinary and zoonotic viral pathogens and diseases.Good interpersonal skills.Enquiries: Dr Alison Lubisi, Tel: (012) 529 9233CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 17 SEPTEMBER 2024Competitive remuneration package will be congruent with the scope, responsibilities, and the stature of the position.
