CORE PURPOSE OF JOBThe core purpose of this post is to coordinate, supervise, develop and implement appropriate and effective student counselling programme and service delivery to the university communities in accordance with the mission of the Centre.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREASTo coordinate and supervise site-specific programme and service delivery, including the management of site human resources, equipment and consumables.To monitor, evaluate and report functions.To coordinate programme development and implementation across all sites.To provide a professional counselling service to University students in accordance with the HPCSAs Scope of Practice for Psychologists, in the areas of neurocognitive, career, and psychosocial wellbeing.
To increase accessibility to services through internal and external community engagement.CORE COMPETENCIES A thorough understanding of the counselling and developmental needs of higher education students.A thorough knowledge and understanding of the South African higher education context.A thorough understanding of and experience in student counselling, career and development programmes and services with regard to student access, retention and success.An understanding of South African higher education quality assurance guidelines and best practice for student counselling.Knowledge of student counselling trends nationally and internationally.Possess strong written and verbal communication skills as well as good research skills;Have proven attributes of transparency, integrity and teamwork REQUIREMENTS In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates should have complied with the following requirements:
At least a Masters degree, and preferably a Doctoral degree, in PsychologyBe a Psychologist (Counselling, Clinical or Educational) registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)Have at least 3 to 5 years experience in which competence has been gained.
