Job Description: You as a Senior Project Engineer will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Modderfontein, South Africa. A Specialist Professional is a recognized subject matter expert in job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
Your Responsibilities: You will have hands-on experience with high voltage protection and control system engineering design including schematics preparation, review of engineering documents, protection relay configuration, testing, commissioning, or troubleshooting.You will have power system, substation, and MV/HV switchgear knowledge which is an advantage.Familiarity with substation automation systems, Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and Gateways will be a key differentiator. You should be conversant with design tools like AutoCAD or equivalent for substation layouts, cable schedules, wiring, and termination charts.Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, with a proven ability to handle customer comments and approval responses to support the project manager in project engineering.Acting as the champion for Hitachi Energy processes and policies, you will contribute to the development of standard processes and work instructions by adopting Hitachi internal as well as industry best practices.
