Senior Professional Officer: Legal Support - Ref No: Nrg 82/24

Requirements:

LLB degree
LLM or LLD in public law would be advantageous
Minimum of 5 years' experience working in government, the NGO sector or academia
Experience on public law matters, or in the public law department of a legal firm, or as an advocate specializing in public law

Key performance areas:

Legal research, for example in legal information databases and other electronic sources, to inform legal advisory work
Provision of a legal advisory service across the Energy Directorate
Drafting and scrutiny of legal documents entered into by the Energy Directorate, in liaison with Legal Services
Preparing and/or assisting in the preparation of committee reports
Resolving and supporting with resolution of ad hoc legal issues as they arise on contracts and projects across the Energy Directorate
Management of customer complaints and litigation in the Energy Directorate
Assisting with the development of legislation and policy within the Energy Directorate
Assisting the Energy Directorate to formulate appropriate comments on new legislation and policy for transmission to the Strategic Policy Branch for processing
