Senior Payroll Manager

Key Responsibilities Leadership and Team Management Lead, manage, mentor, and develop a team of six payroll professionals. Foster a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability within the payroll department. Payroll Processing and Compliance Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for all employees. Ensure compliance with South African tax laws, labor regulations, and company policies. Accurately prepare and process payroll, including salaries, overtime, bonuses, and statutory contributions (e.g., PAYE, UIF, SDL). Data Integrity and Reporting Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure timely submission of statutory returns (EMP201, EMP501, etc.). Collaborate with HR and finance teams to validate employee data and ensure seamless integration of systems. Conduct payroll audits to identify and rectify discrepancies. Issue Resolution and Employee Support Address payroll discrepancies and resolve employee queries promptly and professionally. Act as the key point of contact for payroll-related audits and reviews. Strategic Initiatives and Continuous Improvement Stay abreast of changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices, ensuring proactive compliance. Lead payroll-related projects, including system upgrades, process optimization, and policy development. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Bachelors degree in Accounting, HR, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Expertise in South African payroll legislation, statutory reporting, and compliance. Proficiency in payroll software (Sage 300 experience highly advantageous). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Available for travel to other sites. Preferred: Certification in Payroll Management. Familiarity with HR systems and their integration with payroll platforms. Experience managing payroll for a large, multi-site organization.
