We are looking for a Senior NOC Engineer to join our team and take on a vital role in one of the core functions of ikeja's business. Key Responsibilities
Field Teams: Monitor Field Team groups for escalations and assistance requests, including switch renaming, device connection issues, and bespoke requests.
PRTG Monitoring: Frequent monitoring of PRTG during shifts to identify offline sites/sectors. Alert the Internal NOC group of any offline sites/sectors at the start and end of shifts. Utilize PRTG to identify frequent sector issues and add problematic customers for connection tracking (PING, TRAFFIC, UPTIME). Update PRTG with missing or incorrect sector details.
Escalations: Escalate down, flapping, or restoring sites to the Internal NOC and Tower Down group, unless instructed otherwise or unsure of the outage reason. Assist Area Managers by addressing specific client issues, even if not through APEX, based on direct contact with the client.
APEX Support: Provide assistance on Apex with complex issues escalated from Senior engineers related to network quality, VPN, VoIP, or cloud-related faults raised by customers.
Nodes: Alert on nodes experiencing low capacity or high client saturation. Migrate clients to sectors with available capacity and collaborate with mast engineers to plan and implement new sectors. Proactively monitor and plan node capacities, ensuring sufficient capacity with the mast teams.
Requirements
Experience: 3-4 years in a NOC role and a 1 network qualification. Experience with Ubiquiti, Cambium or related wireless vendors. Good understanding of IP networking, basic dynamic routing protocols, and ISP design Networks. Basic understanding of PtMP wireless technologies, 5ghz and 2ghz applications.
Network Topology: Thorough understanding of the entire network topology, including access and core networks. Awareness of the impact of failures across link capacity, upstream, and downstream nodes.
Escalation Management: Ability to handle escalations in the absence of the NOC Manager. Proficiency in managing infrastructure team escalations and responses.
Node Failures: Quick detection of node failures and ability to provide a detailed explanation of the impact and cause.
Network Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of standard network practices at the CCNP level of networking.
A successful Senior Network Engineer should possess these skills and competencies to effectively manage and optimize the network infrastructure at a Tier 4 level.
