Responsibilities:
Meeting with clients and design teams to determine mechanical applications and requirements.
Conducting research to inform the design and engineering methods required for the mechanical systems.
Planning and executing mechanical designs using CAD, CAM, and 3D CAD programs.
Performing computer simulations and experiments to virtually test and refine the designs.
Overseeing the development and manufacturing of physical prototypes for testing.
Documenting the design process, iterations, and test analytics.
Managing project timelines, resources, and budgets.
Liaising with clients, designers, engineers, and manufacturers to ensure coherence.
Preparing technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals.
Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in technology, design trends, and engineering best practices.
Report writing and drafting of manuals and assembly instructions.
Key Skills:
Experience and knowledge regarding relevant manufacturing methods.
Experience and knowledge regarding relevant materials.
Experience and knowledge regarding mechanical/electronic design for use in military or airborne applications.
Passion for all things technical and specifically machinery i.e.; vehicle aircraft trains, etc.
Hands-on mechanical skills (tinkerer, DIY, etc.).
Attention to detail, accuracy.
Work independently with a high degree of responsibility.
Work well under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to engage with clients and people from other departments; e.g.; sales; procurements; QA; etc.
Ability to lead and mentor other team members.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum applicable work experience: 15 Years.
Required nature of applicable experience: Design and project experience in the design, development, and manufacturing of mechanical products/machines/structures; Proficiency in structural analysis, thermal analysis, and fluid dynamics.
