As such, we are on the lookout for an innovative Senior Mechanical Designer to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) to be based in our Greenstone Hill Offices, Johannesburg.The main responsibility of this role is the production of mechanical layouts, 3D models, and 2D drawings in accordance with project requirements under the supervision of the Lead Mechanical Engineer. In addition, the Senior Mechanical Designer is required to apply experience and specialized/advanced engineering principles at a conceptual level. The position requires sound knowledge in the design of project-specific mechanical components or systems, as well as fundamental knowledge of the plant processes. The Senior Mechanical Designer also assists in resolving mechanical technical issues and provides guidance to other designers as well as supervising and coordinating mechanical design tasks.Other responsibilities include:Assisting in interpreting the plant PFDs, P&IDs, and plant battery limits and constraintsPreparing 3D equipment modeling and 3D designPerforming conceptual layout work, check drawings prior to releasePerforming design calculations of standard design elementsPerforming the design and drafting of mechanical plant models using applicable standards, project technical specifications, and enterprise or project proceduresApplying the mechanical and layout design criteria throughout the evolution of the designUsing vendor drawings and information to develop and check the model and facilitating formal mechanical design reviews.You bring to the role:10+ years experience in mechanical designProficient modelling skills in a 3D environmentProficient knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations, and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the projectAdvanced Diploma of Engineering or equivalent (Mechanical preferred).Preferred:Knowledge of Bentley 3D design software tools, copper concentration or flotation experience.Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutionsDon't meet every single requirement?
