Job Purpose To contribute to curriculum development and to teach according to a set syllabus while providing support to the faculty in pursuit of achieving its academic objectives. This includes contributing to academic initiatives undertaken by the faculty to enhance learning and promoting entrepreneurship learning in accordance with the needs of the community, as well as supporting and expanding programmes for co-operative education. Additionally, the role involves supporting faculty research initiatives through undertaking research and contributing towards group research.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience Minimum Requirements: Senior Lecturer A Doctor's Degree in a Design field (e.g., Visual Communication/Fashion/Product/Jewellery Design) At least four (4) years' relevant lecturing experience Successful supervision of post-graduates to completion Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals Recommendations: At least 4 years of Industry experience Minimum Requirements: Lecturer: A Master's Degree in a Design field (e.g., Visual Communication/Fashion/Product/Jewellery Design) At least two (2) years' relevant lecturing experience Recommendations: At least 2 years of Industry experience Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities Lectures subjects within the field of Theory of Design, Research through Design, Contemporary Design Research Methods Participate in curriculum development at undergrad and postgraduate level Perform appropriate academic, administrative, and leadership duties in the Department Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department Participate in research activities Contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into the curriculum Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies on co-operative education, new techniques/technologies, and research projects Assist with marketing and recruitment activities Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department General Information Closing Date: 20 October 2024
