DEPARTMENT OF AUDITING – FORENSIC ACCOUNTING/FRAUD RISK MANAGEMENT
POST TITLE: SENIOR LECTURER (ONE POST)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lecturing Forensic Investigation and Forensic Accounting at postgraduate level;
Academic administration and management;
Supervising of postgraduate students and providing guidance to students on research-related matters;
Scientific research and publications in accredited academic journals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A Master's degree in the broader Auditing field and/or Forensic investigation/ Forensic Accounting and registered as a CA(SA), ACCA, CIA, CIMA, CFA or any other related/appropriate professional body such as the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners or the Institute for Commercial Forensic Practitioners, OR
A relevant doctorate degree in the broader Auditing field or in Forensic investigation/ Forensic Accounting related field;
Lecturing experience; and
Experience in research and/or involvement in research activities.

COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

Appropriate language and communication skills;
Computer literacy;
Ability to effectively function in a group;
Relevant knowledge of appropriate research methodologies;
Skills and knowledge of acting as a study leader on Master's level.
Ability to effectively manage and evaluate all the research activities of students.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

Experience in blended learning practices;
Lecturing experience at postgraduate level;
Experience in the guidance of postgraduate students' research;
Experience in the analysis of financial statements and accounting records in order to detect financial crimes;
Practical experience in the prevention, detection and investigation of financial crimes;
Practical experience of data analytics in the fraud risk context/environment;
Involvement in professional activities where applicable;
Publications in accredited academic journals;
The potential to develop into a scholar in the discipline;
Candidates that are not as yet in possession of a doctoral degree should demonstrate the potential and willingness to obtain a doctoral qualification within a reasonable period after date of appointment.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
