The HVAC Systems Division of John Thompson Utility and Environmental Unit has a vacancy for a Senior HVAC Commissioning Technician reporting to the Branch Manager & Deputy Branch Manager.Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe candidate's primary function and purpose of the position is to:Commissioning of large industrial HVAC SystemsExperience in air balancing and air quality managementCold and hot commissioning of new installationsGood understanding of instrumentation and controlsFamiliar with large project quality management systems (QCP's and ITP's)Work experience on industrial sites (Power generation ESKOM, Petro Chem, Smelters, Pharmaceuticals, refineries, etc.)Understand the working principles and operation of central plant air-conditioning systems with multiple zonesUnderstand the working principles and operation of chilled water systemsUnderstand electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, and P & I DiagramsAbility to fault find HVAC mechanical and electrical breakdowns and trace the root causesExpected to travel for short periods of time to commission and service nationwide HVAC plants and installationsAbility to persevere and put in extra hours if and when necessaryInspection of electrical and hand toolsWorking at elevated positionsFollowing safe hot work practices (cutting, grinding, drilling, tacking, jacking)Determine correct PPE to be worn for a specific jobAble to complete job risk assessmentMinimum QualificationsMatricN3 with the subjects Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Trade TheoryRed Seal Trade tested artisanExperienceMinimum 5-10 years field experience in Industrial Air-Conditioning and RefrigerationPrevious experience in commissioning and servicing chilled water HVAC Plant installations in the Industrial Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical SectorsPackage & RemunerationMarket Related
