About the Opportunity Jacobs has carried out numerous engineering, procurement and construction contracts to support operations for the South African public electricity utility, Eskom.
At Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in Cape Town, our projects range from providing additional spent fuel cooling capacity, station blackout mitigation and new hydrogen production and bulk storage plant, through to replacing the Data Acquisition system and Fire Detection system.
Our largest single contract to date is for essential engineering modifications to allow for power uprate associated with the installation of new steam generators.

We are hiring a Snr Electrical and/or I&C Engineer to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa.
The post-holder will be responsible for the compilation and review of Electrical and or I&C Designs, Tenders and general engineering support to Project installation teams on EPC projects in the Nuclear and Power Generation fields.
Here's what you'll need: Bachelors' Degree qualified (or equivalent), with design engineering experience.
A Professional Registration (Pr ENG/Pr Tech.)
is beneficial.
Experience in component sizing, selection, protection and coordination with respect to AC and DC Reticulation systems.
Working knowledge of large electrical components such as switchgear, motors, generators, transformers etc.
Thorough knowledge of Control and Instrumentation Systems and Components.
Knowledge of Electrical and I&C Codes and Standards (SANS, ISO, IEC, IEEE).
Working knowledge of Chargers, Inverters, Batteries, UPS's.
7 Years working experience, preferably in Power Generation or similar highly regulated industry.
Koeberg / Nuclear Power Plant experience & Working knowledge of Nuclear Codes and standards.
