Job & Company Description: As a Senior Database Administrator you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our organisations critical database systems. They will be responsible for architecting, implementing and optimising high performance database solutions working with cutting edge technologies to ensure the reliability, security and scalability of our data infrastructure. The key responsibilities for this role will include: Lead the management and optimization of multiple Microsoft SQL Server and Windows Server environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performanceDesign, implement, and maintain automated backup, rollback, and disaster recovery protocols to safeguard data integrityCollaborate with development teams to oversee data model changes, including DDL scripting strategies, performance analysis, and impact assessmentsConduct in-depth performance tuning, addressing indexing, query optimization, and deadlock resolutionDefine and enforce SQL and server security policies, including firewall, VPN management, and secure password protocolsManage Active Directory Services (ADS) for domain control, user and group policies, and ensure compliance with IT security and industry standardsUse advanced diagnostic tools (e.g., Process Explorer, Wireshark) to proactively troubleshoot and resolve performance issues As you will be required to hit the ground running extensive experience is essential. The requirements: Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)Relevant certifications (e.g., MCDBA, MCSE) preferred Experience: 5+ years of experience managing Microsoft SQL Server and Windows Server environmentsExpertise in SQL Server performance tuning, backup, recovery, and security best practicesProficiency in Windows Server (2008-2016), Active Directory, and data protection protocolsStrong skills in T-SQL, DDL scripting, and database replicationFamiliarity with diagnostic tools (e.g., Process Explorer, Wireshark) Skills Required: Effective communicator with a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamworkStrong organizational and time management skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.A positive, proactive attitude, always willing to go the extra mile.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
