My client is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team where your expertise in finance and leadership will contribute to the company's ongoing success.This is a 4 month contract role based in Edenvale.Key Responsibilities:Financial Operations & Reporting:Review and release payments, including new beneficiaries.Prepare comprehensive balance sheet and revenue reconciliations.Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including loading assets and running depreciation schedules.Process and review month-end journals, ensuring accuracy and completeness.Oversee the month-end close-off for debtors and creditors.Forecasting & Analysis:Prepare cash forecasts to ensure robust financial planning.Investigate material variances in monthly management accounts and present insights during flash meetings.Assist in budget and forecast preparation to guide strategic decision-making.Compliance & Audit:Prepare and review VAT 201 submissions, tax calculations, and related journals.Assist with external audit requests and ensure timely resolution of queries.Review tax add-info reports and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.Process Oversight:Oversee junior finance staff, including bookkeepers and junior accountants, providing guidance as needed.Review creditors' invoices, ensuring accurate processing.Ensure operating expense accruals are accurate and complete.Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement:Prepare financial statements and HFM packs.Present management accounts and provide insights to stakeholders.Prepare financial reconciliations and reports for BEE compliance.Ad Hoc Duties:Manage sundry recoveries (intercompany) and forex payment reviews.Handle any additional finance-related tasks as required.Qualifications & Experience:A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Proven experience in a similar senior accounting role.Strong technical accounting knowledge, including reconciliations, forecasting, and financial statement preparation.
