Position: Senior Account ManagerLocation: Southern AfricaCompany: Global Animal Health & Nutrition CompanyQualifications:BSc, MSc, or PhD in Agriculture/Animal Science/Veterinary Science or similar.A leading global manufacturer and provider of niche products in the animal health and nutrition arena wishes to appoint an experienced animal nutrition professional to assume management responsibility for the account managers and the account management function in South Africa and a number of territories in Southern Africa.The role and purpose of the Senior Account Manager, as part of the EMEA team (Europe, Middle East and Africa) in a highly dynamic and diverse animal nutrition global company, will be to drive, grow and further extend the company's value proposition to South African customers in the northern provinces of South Africa.Ideal Candidate:The Ideal Candidate will be an Animal Science/Animal Nutrition/Agricultural Science/Veterinary Science (or Similar) Professional with Marketing and Sales and Commercial Experience, preferably with circa 6 years of commercial experience focused on technical advisory services, marketing and sales, and business development in the animal nutrition environment. Leadership and management experience is also preferred.Responsibilities:Lead and manage the account manager infrastructure in the company.Manage and develop a portfolio of customers in his/her sub-region.Achieve KPI objectives (Sales, GPx, NBD, CAPs and personal objectives) according to regional marketing targets and global pricing strategy (commercial guidelines).Obtain in-depth knowledge about customers and competitors, their product range and share it within the organization.Ensure process from order to cash (incl. collection of money).Provide long term customer-based strategies.Key Performance Areas:Lead and manage account managers in the company.Identify new business opportunities and develop own market in close cooperation with country/regional sales manager.Define and implement customer action plans for existing and to win new accounts - set targets for local key accounts.Create weekly and monthly customer visit plans and report weekly.Prepare weekly cash collection report to be consolidated in Sales and sent to Finance.Close follow up the economic situations of the customers to be proactive.Optimize customer portfolio (profitability focus).Collect relevant customer and competitor information and communicate it systematically within the business group.Coordinate and ensure resolution of customer complaints.Track performance by customer and product and report accurately and timely.Apply business unit commercial tools (e.g., CAPs) and procedures.Comply with all relevant business unit policies.Provide customer-based monthly, quarterly, and yearly forecasts.Train and support the distributors' sales and technical teams for company products.Use of CRM actively within all operations and projects.Experience:Experience in the South African agricultural/animal husbandry/animal science/veterinary science fraternity.At least 6 years of solid commercial or account management experience, preferably in a business-to-business environment focusing on agriculture/animal husbandry/animal science/veterinary science and especially animal nutrition.Business development experience within the B2B marketing context.Experience and understanding of consumer insights and consumer behaviors.Experience in building customer relationships across diverse cultures, countries, and industries.Leadership and management experience.Skills and Attributes:Well-developed interpersonal skills.Excellent communication skills in English.Excellent presentation skills.Personal gravitas and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.Well-developed computer literacy, especially in the MS office suite.Demonstrable team functioning skills.Demonstrable analytical abilities.Demonstrable leadership and management skills.Whilst we will endeavor to respond to all applications, should you not have heard from us within 4 weeks of your application, please accept that our client will not be pursuing a discussion with you in respect of this position.
