Job Description
The Sampling Supervisor: Londani is responsible for supervising the sampling and sample preparation function and activities at the Londani Laboratory. This includes ensuring timely sampling, sample preparation, analysis of samples, data evaluation, and reporting of results to comply with contractually agreed turn-around times. The role supports the Lab Manager: Londani Laboratory in meeting business objectives and ensuring compliance with company policies and business guidelines.
Supervise the sampling and sample preparation function and activities at the Londani Laboratory.
Ensure timely sampling, sample preparation, analysis of samples, data evaluation, and reporting of results to comply with contractually agreed turn-around times.
Supervise key performance indicators of the Shift Leaders and Operators.
Measure the performance of individual Shift Leaders and Operators and manage accordingly.
Oversee time management and attendance control of Shift Leaders and Operators.
Responsible for the learning and development of Shift Leaders and Operators.
Ensure adequate manpower resources, equipment, and tools are available for operational efficiency.
Maintain sampling and sample preparation equipment.
Control and order consumables while maintaining associated records and stock levels.
Maintain all human resources related documentation.
Assist the Lab Manager with revenue and expense control of the Londani Laboratory Operations, in line with operational budgets and business strategies.
Assist the Lab Manager with setting annual budget targets in collaboration with the Area Manager: Mpumalanga Central.
Effectively manage and continuously improve the quality management system, and implement any certifications and accreditation systems within the business lines.
Assist the Lab Manager with the control of accounts receivable and DSO for the Londani Laboratory Operations.
Responsible for the effective implementation of SGS QHSE systems, along with client-specific safety standards (e.g., ISO 17025 & NOSA).
Assist the Lab Manager with liaison and technical support to all present and potential clients.
Assist the Lab Manager with complaints and claim resolution.
Assist the Lab Manager with technical and sales support.
Keep abreast of new trends, current developments, and relevant research.
Attend all meetings as per client requirements.
Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by direct line manager.
Conduct relevant monthly meetings with shift leaders and employees.
Assist the Lab Manager with monthly service level agreement performance meetings with clients.
Assist the Lab Manager with quarterly client satisfaction surveys with all stakeholders.
Qualifications
Degree/Diploma in Chemistry and/or proven years of laboratory knowledge, skills, and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning.
Proficiency in English.
Basic calculation capability.
Additional Information
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience, preferably in a coal environment.
Coal sampling, sample preparation, analysis, and coal beneficiation experience essential.
Experience with budgets, cost control, and evaluation of data and results.
