Job Description Summary Provide support to the Site EHS Manager in the implementation and maintenance of the Site EHS Management System. Supervise site activities to ensure that the defined site EHS rules are complied with.
Job Description Roles and Responsibilities OperationalCarry out continuous inspections of the site areas (minimum 80% of the time in the field), treat and report any discrepancy.Act immediately on unsafe acts and conditions observed at site.Assist the Site Leader in ensuring compliance of site activities with the GLSP, DIR-057, Project Specific EHS Plan, guidelines and work instructions.Support compliance with the site disciplinary procedure and zero tolerance policy.Provide support and advice to site personnel as to prevent harm or damage to people, equipment and the environment.Liaise with site staff to have deviations addressed and follow up on closure.Lead by example in complying with the site EHS rules.Review Risk Assessments and Method Statement for all activities in area of responsibility.Participate in incident investigations and review incident documentation for completeness, that correct information is captured and that sustainable measures are implemented to prevent re-occurrence.Carry out any other specific task or duty defined by the Site Leader to support the implementation and maintenance of the site EHS Management System.Managerial (Administration / People)To give instructions to personnel relevant to the prevention of harm and damage.To call for the cessation of works if where immediate serious safety and environmental risk is identified.Has the right to interrupt any activity whenever such action is necessary to meet project and organizational Environment, Health and Safety requirements.Key Performance Indicators One evidence of good performance related to each single task and responsibility mentioned above.Full compliance with GELSP, SP DIR-0057 and site requirements verified through field audits.Deviation reports.Required Qualifications A recognized safety certification (minimum: of 2 weeks training) (e.g. SAMTRAC / Modern SHEQ Management course).OH&S Act and Regulations (latest version of the Act and regulations).COID Act (latest version of the Act).Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis Technique.Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Training.Health & Safety Auditing.Environmental Compliance Recognized Course.Emergency Preparedness Coordination Training.Fire equipment inspector training certificate.First Aid training Certificate (preference is level 3 First Aid).Fall Protection Plan Developer Training Certificate (SAQA US 229994).Shall be registered with Statutory Body, SACPCMP, as CHSO or CHSM.Minimum 5 years experience as SACPCMP Registered CHSO in the construction industry.Minimum of 5 Years experience as EHS Officer on ESKOM Sites.Desirable (NICE TO HAVE) National Diploma in Safety Management or Environmental Health.Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization plant experience.Additional Information Relocation Assistance Provided: No
