Main Purpose of the Role Assist the HS Leads on both K2 wind projects in matters relating to Health, Safety and Environmental on site.
Key responsibilities: Scope: Health & Safety Enforcing HSE policies plans, and procedures – enforce a zero-tolerance stance on Health and Safety on site.
Enforces site HSE discipline in accordance with the project construction framework Regular site inspections and monitoring of site activities Ensure attendance of the HSE Audits and HSE safety measures are applied Monitoring all construction works and ensuring compliance with site permits and standards Monitor site and people activities to prevent COVID-19 infections on site Conduct weekly Contractor and Subcontractor inspections of the workplace to ensure that SWMS requirements are being implemented Directly supervise plant inspections with operators prior to the plant being used on site Ensure plant operators have valid competency certificates for the plant to be operated Ensure site inductions are implemented, reviewed, and updated Manage the EPC Co permit system and ensure that Contractors are managing other approved permit systems (e.g.
excavation permits) Partake in incident investigations Register incidents and HSE Plan actions Monitor the condition and availability of safety equipment (e.g.
PPE) Performing and arranging Project HSE induction to all employees when arriving on site Ensure all Legal required company appointments are in place and up to date Review the Contractor's HSE documentation prior to arrival on site Review/ Approve Contractor's HSE files before the contractor's work commences on site Review all Contractors Risk assessments and method statements before activities Perform daily, weekly, and monthly site inspections and audits Advise Construction management of HS concerns and resolutions Attend all weekly construction meetings Ensure all access control measures to the site are diligently applied and enforced Environmental Support the ESO, EPC Co team, and contractors to ensure compliance with the project EMPrs Contractor management Ensure contractors comply with their HSE obligations on site Attend weekly and monthly HSE meetings with on-site contractors and ensure MoM are accurately recorded Effectively communicate company values and objectives on site Reporting Fulfil HSE statistics collection and reporting obligations - (weekly & monthly) Internal team reporting REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Wind Project Manager QUALIFICATION AND CERTIFICATION Compulsory registration with a statutory body (such as SACPCMP) as HS Office First Aider Level training Firefighting training HIRA Certification Legal Liability Training At least 4 years of work experience in renewable projects as HS In possession of a valid driver's licenses  Excellent working knowledge of OHS Act and its Regulations Understanding of the construction permitting process Curriculum Vitae Proof of Residential Address (or confirmation from the Municipality) Any existing work experience (including references) Relevant Experiences At least 4 years of work experience in renewable projects as HS Officer COMPETENCIES Skills and Attributes: Good communication skills.
Speaks and writes English fluently.
Good knowledge of another language is an advantage. Good report writing ability.
Strong negotiating ability with the workforce.
Analytical thinking with a focus on customer and goal achievement.
Computer skills and literacy.
Ability to use and application of Microsoft Office software. English report writing skills, with good spelling and grammar acumen.
