Royalty Accountant

Our client is looking for a Royalty Accountant.Responsibilities :Calculate and process royalty payments for artists, producers, distribution clients, and other stakeholders.Ensure accurate and timely disbursement of royalty payments according to contractual terms.Process royalties on both the RASA and internal systems.Prepare royalty statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets related to royalties.Perform a recoupability analysis against advances on a monthly basis.Reconcile royalty accounts.Maintain and update royalty accounting systems and databases.Ensure all royalty data is accurate and up-to-date.Pull reports as required for international and domestic revenue.Review and analyze royalty agreements to determine payment terms and obligations.Ensure compliance with contractual and legal requirements.Ensure that statements are sent out to stakeholders timely.Assist in internal and external audits related to royalty accounting.Provide necessary documentation and information to auditors as required.Perform regular reconciliations of royalty accounts to ensure accuracy.Investigate and resolve discrepancies in royalty calculations and payments.Work closely with the finance, legal, and A&R departments to ensure alignment and accuracy in royalty payments.Communicate effectively with artists, managers, and other external stakeholders regarding royalty-related inquiries.Collaborate with the A&R team on artist P&Ls and models.Identify opportunities for improving royalty accounting processes and systems.Implement best practices and efficiencies in royalty accounting.Key Skills :Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of music industry contracts and royalty structures.Integrity: Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive financial information with discretion.Time Management: Manages multiple tasks and priorities efficiently to meet deadlines.Qualifications :Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.CPA or equivalent certification preferred.Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in royalty accounting, preferably in the music industry.Experience with royalty accounting software and systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, RASA, SAGE, XERO).
