Job Summary:
The Route Planner is responsible for developing efficient and cost-effective transportation plans to optimize delivery or service routes. They analyze various factors such as distance, traffic patterns, delivery windows, vehicle capacity, and customer requirements to design routes that maximize productivity and minimize costs. The Route Planner collaborates with logistics teams, drivers, dispatchers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of transportation operations.
Responsibilities:

Develop optimized routes for deliveries, pick-ups, or service calls using route planning software and analytical tools
Analyze data such as historical delivery patterns, traffic conditions, and customer locations to identify opportunities for route optimization and efficiency improvements
Determine vehicle capacity requirements and allocate resources effectively to ensure timely deliveries while minimizing empty miles and maximizing vehicle utilization.
Identify cost-saving opportunities through route optimization, fuel efficiency measures, and strategic planning.
Ensure that transportation operations comply with relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Coordinate with drivers, dispatchers, and other team members to communicate route plans, schedule changes, and other relevant information.
Address route deviations, traffic delays, and other logistical challenges in real-time to minimize disruptions and maintain service levels.
Continuously review and refine route plans based on feedback, performance metrics, and changing business needs to optimize efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, transportation, or a related field (preferred).
Proven experience in route planning, logistics, or transportation management.
Proficiency in route planning software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Familiarity with transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays, as needed
