This role involves developing and implementing ESG risk management strategies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and promoting sustainable business practices. Additionally, the role includes embedding the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Risk Management framework within the Group and promoting sustainable business practices.The role includes responsibility for managing coordinated assurance across the bank and Group. This role involves developing and implementing an enterprise-wide coordinated assurance strategy, methodology, and framework, as well as integrating and aligning assurance processes to maximize risk and compliance oversight and control efficiencies.Job ResponsibilitiesStrategic Direction and Coordination:Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify ESG-related risks.Analyze the impact of ESG risks on the organization's operations and reputation.Develop risk mitigation strategies and action plans.Provide strategic direction on coordinated assurance strategy, methodology, and framework across the group.Coordinate and drive a strong strategic approach to Risk, Audit, and Compliance plans.Design and implement effective and efficient coordinated assurance processes to ensure compliance with strategy, methodology, framework, and corporate governance expectations.Risk Management:Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify ESG-related risks.Develop and implement ESG risk management policies and procedures.Optimize risk management performance by assisting business units in identifying, recommending, and executing risk management strategies within the Group's defined risk appetite.Stakeholder Engagement:Build and sustain business relations to ensure satisfied internal and external stakeholders.Foster a culture of sustainability and responsible business practices within the Nedbank.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate ESG considerations into business processes.Monitoring and Reporting:Monitor ESG risk indicators and trends.Prepare regular reports on ESG risk management activities and outcomes.Report on the overall effectiveness of the internal control environment of the Group.Training and Awareness:Develop and deliver training programs on ESG risk management for employees.Raise awareness of ESG risks and their implications across the organization.Essential Qualifications - NQF LevelProfessional Qualifications/Honour's DegreeDiplomaPreferred QualificationBachelor of Technology: Project Management, Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior CertificateEssential CertificationsRelevant certification in PM practices or methodology (PRINCE/ PMBOK ETC)Minimum Experience Level• Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in Risk Management.• Strong understanding of ESG principles, regulations, and best practices.• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.Types of Exposures• Coordinating the Risk, Compliance and Audit plans• Developing ways to join the dots between risks, compliance and audit• Influencing stakeholders to obtain buy-in for concepts and ideas.• Managing conflict situations• Sharing information in different ways to increase stakeholders understanding• Comparing two or more sets of information• Working with banking products• Interacting with diverse people• Building and maintaining effective relationships externally and internally• Interacting with all levels of management• Participate in multiple projects• Answering customer questions• Communicating complex information• Identifying universal risk trends that could affect Nedbank in the short to long termTechnical / Professional KnowledgeRelevant regulatory knowledgeCluster Specific Operational KnowledgeGovernance, Risk and ControlsData analysisRelevant project management platform and tool knowledgePrinciples of financial managementProject Tool KitProject management principles and methodologiesPlanning and OrganizingCustomer OrientationMonitoring InformationLeveraging FeedbackEarning TrustDisclaimerPreference will be given to candidates from the underrepresented groups.
