Reserve management: conservation of animals and plants, ecology, animal population dynamics, supplement feeding program of large herbivores, predator-prey dynamics (lion reserve), security/anti-poaching program, education, aerial game census, game capture, animal well-being, eradication of alien plants, bush encroachment program, controlled burning, firebreaks, sustainable use of water resources, responsible for liaison with Government Department of Environmental Affairs, liaison with other stake holders (garden services, contractors and neighbouring reserves). Represent reserve at numerous conservation organisations (WAG, CAG, Limf, WRSA etc) as well as at local community level e.g. police forums, fire protection associations etc. Previous experience in the NPO milieu an advantage. 2. Reserve maintenance: perimeter fence, road network, water reticulation and waste management. 3. Personnel management: staff, employment of staff, leave roster, designation of duties, duty rosters, work performance evaluation, disciplinary action, incentives, training, staff well-being, liaison with all staff living on the Reserve. 4. Administration: staff management, compilation and management of annual reserve budget, weekly and monthly progress reports, staff attendance register, fleet management, acquirement of operating equipment, debtors and creditors. 5. Estate Management: Mabula supports an array of reserve users, and it is vital that the incumbent has previous experience in dealing with multiple shareholders, owners and commercial or timeshare operations. Previous experience in attending and presenting at AGMs a bonus. At least 5 years of proven success working in the relevant field and experience on all MS Office programs is required, with preference given to applicants with experience on Arcview. The minimum qualification is a B-Tech Nature Conservation degree (or similar qualification) with preference to M-Tech applicants.
