Research Technologist (S) - Research Assistant Duration: One-Year Contract The South African Medical Research Council, Gender and Health Research Unit (GHRU) requires suitably qualified and experienced Research Technologist (S) - Research Assistant to coordinate our disability and SRHR-related research and training projects.
Responsibilities: Providing administrative support to the study investigatorSupporting project coordinationAdministering registration/reimbursement of participantsAdministering informed consentScreening/enrolling as per protocolConducting surveys or facility assessments – quantitative data entryConducting in-depth interviewsFacilitating focus group discussionsTranslating and back-translation of documentsUpdating of study logs and management of source documentationConducting routine maintenance of interview equipment and reporting on instrument failureConducting external interactions for study updates and quality of dataParticipating in conference calls for study updates and quality control as per protocolSupporting coding and analysisSupporting report writingSupporting community engagement with persons with disabilitiesCore Requirements: Bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, psychology, disability studies, or similar field1-2 years' experience in research, social sciences, or related environment1 year's experience using qualitative or quantitative methods for data collectionExperience working with people with disabilitiesTranscription and translation skillsData collection experience either qualitative or quantitativeProficient in MS OfficeExperience using data entry tools such as RedCap, Kobotoolbox, etc.Advantageous: Any experience greater than that which is stated aboveTerms & Conditions: The SAMRC retains the right not to make an appointment. A salary in the region of R 293 027 per annum, cost-to-company will be offered dependent on qualifications and research experience.
