Research Study Assistants (X2 - 12 Months Fixed Term Contract - Wits Rhi)

Main purpose of the job: To promote and implement heat health awareness and adaptation strategies within health facilities Location: Pretoria - Tshwane Key performance areas: Provide heat health talks for Health Care Workers (HCWs) and Pregnant and Post Natal Women (PPW) Distribute IEC materials at health facilities Use posters, flyers, and brief educational meetings to emphasize the risks of heat stress and dehydration Daily ventilation checks of the area Check functioning of cooling devices in facility and monitor aircon Conduct continuous indoor thermal monitoring Refill water cooler s frequently and offer H2O to HCWs Offer cooling device options for personal use Encourage HCWs to take water breaks during shifts Encourage a buddy system where HCWs remind each other to drink water, take breaks, and stay cool Monitor the uptake and implementation of OHS heat indicators Monitor heat stress symptoms/incidents amongst HCWs Monitor usage of hydration stations Monitor the number of HCWs receiving heat health guidance or interventions Monitor the frequency of water cooler refills Monitor and document the usage of hydration stations Maintain full records for all heat health promotions conducted Compile relevant reports and feedback on all activities Capture CRFs and study documents Maintain an inventory register of all promotional materials and cooling items Maintain infection control standards in all materials and items used Safekeeping of project assets Provide regular updates on heat health to key stakeholders Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback Take ownership for driving own career development in attending training and development sessions and relevant meetings Required minimum education and training: Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate in Health Promotion would be an added advantage Required minimum work experience: At least 12 months experience as a Community Health Worker, Health Promoter, Social Worker or related experience Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities: Experience in a clinical environment as a Community Health Worker, Health Promoter or Social Worker Be tactful, respectful and maintain confidentiality Good communication and administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Must be self-driven work ethic TO APPLY: Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.
