Main purpose of the job: To promote and implement heat health awareness and adaptation strategies within health facilitiesLocation:Pretoria - TshwaneKey performance areas:Provide heat health talks for Health Care Workers (HCWs) and Pregnant and Post Natal Women (PPW)Distribute IEC materials at health facilitiesUse posters, flyers, and brief educational meetings to emphasize the risks of heat stress and dehydrationDaily ventilation checks of the areaCheck functioning of cooling devices in facility and monitor airconConduct continuous indoor thermal monitoringRefill water cooler s frequently and offer H2O to HCWsOffer cooling device options for personal useEncourage HCWs to take water breaks during shiftsEncourage a buddy system where HCWs remind each other to drink water, take breaks, and stay coolMonitor the uptake and implementation of OHS heat indicatorsMonitor heat stress symptoms/incidents amongst HCWsMonitor usage of hydration stationsMonitor the number of HCWs receiving heat health guidance or interventionsMonitor the frequency of water cooler refillsMonitor and document the usage of hydration stationsMaintain full records for all heat health promotions conductedCompile relevant reports and feedback on all activitiesCapture CRFs and study documentsMaintain an inventory register of all promotional materials and cooling itemsMaintain infection control standards in all materials and items usedSafekeeping of project assetsProvide regular updates on heat health to key stakeholdersTake ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-managementFollow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintainedMaintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedbackTake ownership for driving own career development in attending training and development sessions and relevant meetingsRequired minimum education and training: Grade 12 (Matric)Certificate in Health Promotion would be an added advantageRequired minimum work experience: At least 12 months experience as a Community Health Worker, Health Promoter, Social Worker or related experienceDesirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:Experience in a clinical environment as a Community Health Worker, Health Promoter or Social WorkerBe tactful, respectful and maintain confidentialityGood communication and administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeAble to work under pressure and adhere to deadlinesSelf-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamMust be self-driven work ethicTO APPLY:Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.Please Apply Online and complete your registration on Ditto Hire (our application tracking system) to enable and protect you as a candidate to accept the new POPIA terms and conditions.
