With this department, you will work at the heart of the most rapidly developing technologies humankind has ever seen.Applicants are invited to submit their application for the appointment as Research Associate Limited One Year Term in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at University of Toronto.
This is a full time on-site position to work with Prof. Ted Sergent's group.
This role involves being the lead scientific researcher on our project with NRC to develop high-efficiency catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER).Duties:Synthesize new materials as catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER); develop hypotheses of their working mechanism and demonstrate with in-depth experimental characterization.Develop experimental plans and execute them on a time basis agreed upon by the PIs.Prepare monthly updates for our collaborators at NRC.Mentor researchers within the NRC project to help them with day-by-day research activities.Train new researchers within the NRC project.Provide training and materials to our NRC collaborators when needed.Contribute to publication of academic papers and technical reports both at conferences and in journals.Review scientific literature, reporting on research progress through oral and written reports and scientific journal articles.Conduct, develop and execute academic research to achieve research goals of PI.Qualifications:PhD in Materials Science.Proven experience in the synthesis and deposition methods of metal oxide materials.Trained on a variety of x-ray spectroscopic methods, microscopy, NMR/FTIR methods.Fully qualified for safe working environment (laser safety, lab safety, chemical safety, WHMIS).Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.Demonstrated excellent leadership/organization as a team leader in Research & Development projects.Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and work environment.Exceptional ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.Notes:This is a one(1) year term opportunity, from January 2025 to December 2025.Applicants are expected to include their CV and Cover letter to their application.Closing Date: 01/06/2025, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: Research AssociateAppointment Type: Grant - TermSchedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: R01 -- Research Associates (Limited Term): $52,574 - $98,576Job Category: Research Administration & TeachingAll qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.Diversity StatementThe University of Toronto embraces Diversity and is building a culture of belonging that increases our capacity to effectively address and serve the interests of our global community.
