Our Durban based retail group is looking for a Regional Liquor Buyer. The retail group currently hosts 8 Supermarkets and 7 liquor stores under their umbrella in Durban.
The incumbent's prime responsibility will be purchasing liquor for the group whilst maintaining sales, gross margin, and profitability amongst all stores.
The Regional Buyer will also communicate company and department policies to the internal stores and work closely to help achieve the group's goals.
PURPOSE: Oversee effective operations of the group's liquor stores by ensuring your team of liquor store managers are performing their duties and responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
STOCK
Complete management of stock control; determine quantities for purchasing, negotiate on pricing.
Ensure stock levels are maintained and are at optimum levels.
Ensure that no expired stock is on hand.
Ensure availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts; maintaining inventories.
STAFF MANAGEMENT
Motivate and drive high morale amongst the liquor store managers whilst ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
Create a forum amongst liquor store managers to provide guidance.
PURCHASING
Familiar with leading alcohol suppliers and potentially have established relationships with them.
Ability to build relationships with new suppliers.
Ability to negotiate and secure best prices for purchasing for the group.
PRICING AND PROMOTIONS
Formulates pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; authorizing clearance sales; studying trends.
Markets merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial reports for profitability ratios.
