Summary: Manage all staff- and operational functions within the fruit and vegetables departments of the Company. Ensure that the overall category strategy is being executed at store-level.Manage, guide and develop associates at store-level to ensure a consistent and excellent customer value proposition and experience across the region.Functions / Responsibilities:Category ExcellenceReinforce all company policies and standards.Report any irregularities and suspected wrong-doings.Attend regular weekly stock takes.Set up and attend monthly meetings with Regional Operations Managers to ensure alignment with overall strategy, and discuss store operational issues.Inspect and ensure that all equipment are maintained in accordance with company/food safety standards. Report equipment issues to the Line Manager.Set up planograms per store, and ensure that stores are merchandised accordingly.Customer ServiceImprove merchandising standards in-store, to align with company standards.Visit and engage with customers.Keep key customers informed of initiatives, product drives and promotions.Ensure that customer complaints are handled promptly and accurately.Employee ManagementInstitute corrective and/or disciplinary action where and when required.Liaise with store managers on in-store issues and opportunities.Staff recruitment and scheduling.Address any fruit & veg management and staff issues.Regular meetings with store management.Set and evaluate individual goals for store-level employees based on overall strategy, sales targets and employee development.Ensure that overtime remains within budget.Food SafetyPerform quarterly internal food safety assessments, and report issues to store ops teams and Line Manager.Ensure that the stores maintain company targets and standards on food safety and hygiene practices.Information Gathering and AnalysisVisit local markets, suppliers and competitors for price surveys, and for display ideas that could be used at our stores.Planning and CoordinationAnalyse reports and data for opportunities to grow the category.Reporting and AdministrationProduce daily weekly reports on fruit & veg from both ARCH and SAP.Follow up on deliveries, claims, and other supply chain issues with stores and suppliers.Manage and load selling prices on fruit & veg.Analyse reports and advise management of irregularities and excessive stock holding.Provide weekly product volume forecasts to the line manager, based on market conditions, sales cycles and customer feedback.Maintain and update the drop shipment register both electronically and in-store.Review stock forecasts and report errors/discrepancies to the Fruit & Veg Buyer.Report sales, margin, shrink and waste results to the businessSales and Margin TargetsDrive sales and margins.Implement deals and promotions.Analyse daily/weekly/monthly sales reports to identify areas of concern, and set up action plan to resolve.Stock ControlOversee the management of stock holdings.Manage and control waste and shrink within limits set by the company/Line Manager.Analyse waste and shrink reports and set up action plans where necessary.Investigate and report on any poor shrink or waste results.Ensure accurate and correct daily weekly counting and reporting on fruit & veg.Log calls and/or correct any mistakes in the system (e.g. incorrect costs, stock on hand).Strategy DevelopmentAddress poor preforming stores on sales and or margins.Develop plans to maintain/gain market share in conjunction with Line Manager.Strategy Execution Drive overall company fruit & veg strategy.Implementation of product ranges per cluster per store.Implementation of work plans and drive in-store promotions.Liaise with stores and Fruit & Vegetables Buyers on deals and promotions.Drive promotions and marketing plans to grow sales and margins.Communicate and implement national, regional, cluster or store specific strategies, work plan, etc.Supplier ManagementNegotiate deals and promotions with suppliers.Identify and develop relations with potential suppliers.Self-ManagementRespect every individual by relating to others in an accepting and respectful manner, regardless of their organizational level, personality, or background;Adapt and learn - demonstrate creativity and strength in the face of change, obstacles, or adversity;Adapt to competing demands and shifting priorities;Update knowledge and skills to handle new complexities, challenges, and responsibilities.
